The joys of Spain

What are the joys of Spain ? while everyone's list will be slight or in some case vastly different I am sure that many of the things i am going to mention will be on most peoples lists

Joys of Spain

The great weather, and with many regions of Spain averaging upwards of 320 days of Sunshine an year and hot summers and mild winters this is often high up the list (yes Spain get Snow and yes there are areas of Spain with cooler and even cold winters and hot summers so the weather seems to cater for most tastes in that regard here in Spain )
Culture, there is just to much to say on this to know where to start to do it justice, nut one thing which I think can be said in this section is often the Spanish people are very laid back and relaxed as , i am sure you will have noticed or heard said many times the pace of life in Spain is different to the UK
History , Well Spain has a very long history going back many many many years , with Roman history, for example in places like Cartagena OR Tossa de Mar to name just 2 places with Roman remains and lets not forget the Moors they had a big impact on Spanish history with many a modern day Spanish town and city tracing their roots back to been founded by the mores including Almeria , Albox ,Turre
Food , Tapas , Piella need I say ,more (I intend to expand this one into a blog of its own so watch this space)
The people
The festivals ,One festival of many worth mentioning is the Moors v Christian festivals which regions and towns with a history in that conflict (which was a very long winded and long conflict ) have festivals to mark that aspect of their history each year,. there are many many more festivals worth a mention but this blog/article would never end but will will mention a few more in general. Spain Does Easter big time with many festivals and parades to mark each point of Easter. And lets not forget one of my favourite festivals the 3 kings parade which happens on 3 kings eve and is the last part of the Spanish Christmas. And in general the festivals are bright colourful and lively
Cost of living which are often lower than in many other European countries
Property cost and as with the cost of living your money often go so much further when it comes to buying or renting property in Spain plus many homes and Villas have a pool in Spain

Part 2 SPAIN AND BRITAIN TWO SIMILAR YET VASTLY DIFFERENT COUNTRIES ?

Spain and Britain two similar yet vastly different countries ?

As we all know every country is different from each other and exploring those differences can be part of the fun of living in a new country like Spain(this is part 2 of the difference and similarity's series of blogs on the UK and Spain)

Differences
Dates
One big difference is the day events are marked here in Spain to in the UK
For example:
Father's day (Dia Del Padre ) in Spain is on the 19th March where in the UK it is 16th June (in 2019 anyway )
Mother's day (Dia Del Madre ) is also marked on a different day in Spain it is 5th May and the UK it was Yesterday (in 2019 31/03)

And even April fool's day is different as while Spain has it's own version it is not held on the 1st April but instead 28th December and is called The Day of the Holy Innocents (Día de los Santos Inocentet ) Which relates to a biblical event

And as mentioned before the celebrate the main day of Christmas on 3 kings day which in 2020 is the 6th January (that is the red day as like in the UK on some occasions if a public holiday falls on a Sunday they move the Red day to Monday however unlike the UK if a Red day falls during the week the day does not move )

Things you think are different but only kind of are
A good example of this is the main emergency number in Spain as in many other European countries is 112 however will in the UK it is 999 so at first glance that is a difference however if you dial 112 in the UK you will get though to the emergency service hence been in this section.

Similarities
Well there are plenty as I covered in the previous blog entry on this topic, so I will try to avoid re-mention any I have previously mentioned.

Well in Spain the Vauxhall is called the Opel (like in the rest of Europe ) we have the same models of it and various other car makes as well (I know this is very obvious but I thought I would start on an easy one as I covered quite a few in the Part 1 )
