So how does the customs process relating to my house move to Europe from the UK work?
So despite what you may have seen on the news and on facebook and the likes since Brexit, yes there has been a drop in volumes though the ports but that doesn't mean moving to Europe is not possible here at ERS Removal services Ltd (European relocation services ) have managed 2 fully successful runs So I thought I would discuss with you the customs process involved for your move to the likes of Spain A few common questions So is there more paperwork involved in the customs process now than before Brexit ? yes there is as prior to Brexit there was no customs process per say where as there is now, in regards to the additional customs paperwork required we as your movers will sort the extra paperwork out. Will we need more information from you ? Yes we will and I can advise you what extra is needed when discussing your move with you prior to booking stages Will you need a more detailed inventory ? Yes we will (more advice can be found here by clicking the link )but feel free to ask questions www.europeanrelocationservices.co.uk/ourblog/updated-infomation-on-inventorys-re-brexit-2021 What is the customs process ? (UK to Spain) A you book your move with us B you send the requested documents and inventory C we send said documents to our customs agents in Spain and the UK D We then advise the UK agent (export ) when loaded that the van is loaded and they finalise the customs documents E We present the van to the UK boarder force /HMRC at the port to complete the paperwork side for the UK F The van checks in with the ferry G the van ships on the ferry to Europe H the van disembarks the ferry and stops at French passport control I the van transit France heading towards the Spanish boarder J the van presents to the Spanish customs station (at this stage our Spanish agents check the paperwork and send it to the Spanish government (so it is not until now we will know if any Iva and the likes will be generated for sure) k at this stage the Spanish customs may request to inspect the van L the van gets the discharge papers (discharging the T1 form that is used to transit France ) and we receive the Iva bill (if applicable ) and we pay it as received (if there is no Iva Bill or in rare cases a Tariff bill the holding fee we hold for you will be refunded) M the van transit though Spain to your delivery Spain to UK Is as above expect we also have to present outbound to a customs clearance station to be cleared for the load to leave Spain where as in the UK it is usual done remotely So the above is just a summary some stages are more involved than others but you don't need to worry as we win handle the customs processes as part of the move *And of course until either Covid ends or France change entry requirements for Freight drivers the team/crew on the van will have a PCR after loaded and before heading to the port *Updated 21/01/2021

There are many ways you can reduce the stress or avoid the stress all together *And before I get into this article remember that moving can be stressful for both children and pets for various reasons *Make a plan Make a moving plan and stick to it *what should be in my moving Plan ? 1*Start by writing a list of the tasks you need to do And it will need to be more detailed than just pack 2* Write on the plan who is responsible for what task and what day it needs doing by (and where possible let your kids (if you have any that is) get involved in the move so they feel involved and not left out. *Tips for moving with Children can be found here *And please ensure that you have no packing to be done on the morning of the move as that will increase the stress levels* 3* On the packing plan where you have the dates things need doing by, start packing early as possible, and list items that can be packed away first as they will not be needed and can be packed earlier as well as listing items that should be packed last* *some items will not matter when they are packed * *And list any items you don't thing you will be needing 4 *And plan in to the moving planning a decluttering As after all what is the point of taking unneeded or unwanted items 5 *Write a list of the people and companies/Organisations that need your new address (Tv licence , gas , water , Internet , phone , Doctors etc ) *And if moving aboard Let the tv licence people know the date your moving aboard and that your moving aboard* *and don't forget to update with the Dvla your driving licence address * *And it is a good idea to set up with the Royal mail a redirect service for your mail * https://www.royalmail.com/personal/receiving-mail Moving with pets don't forget to either let the vet know the new address or to register with a new vet And don't forget to update your pets Mirco chip when you move *and as you sort the people /companies that need the new address out tick them off the list * 6*Make sure in the moving plan you allow yourselves plenty of time , you do not want to be rushing around 7* And make sure that as soon as you know the moving dates you book the mover you want to avoid the risk of them been fully booked if you tried booking closer to the moving date 8* In relation to the above when you start the moving plan before even knowing the exact date you should start looking for the mover you want and doing research on the Mover (Reading feedback , checking their terms and conditions etc ) 9*when looking around for the mover I would suggest that only one person is responsible for this task to avoid duplicating work and causing confusing of oh have you do this or that , which movers has x spoken to or have they spoke to Y if one person is doing that stage there will be less confusing of course discuss what you have found out with your partner etc as applicable 10* Write a list of questions you have for the mover out during the initial moving planning so that you can tick them off as you are in contact with the mover and know what you need to know For more moving/Packing advice click here Summing up
Moving your items into long or short term storage ?
Here are a few tips
Not sure if we have caught Nelson pretending to be practicing his wrapping skills or about to wrap old boy shaggy up
But either way here are a few #moving tips / #Packing tips * Be sure to read the movers #Feedback *I would always suggest labelling your boxes that way it is quicker to unpack also don't over fill boxes (But how is it quicker ? see tip 21 below ) Well why is it quicker to unpack if the boxes are labelled well A: they will be in the rooms they go in B: you will be able to say right I need bedroom 2 box 5 next and find it in that room easier And while boxes been labelled is very important you don't need to be 100% descriptive for example box 6 bedroom 2 Underwear could be 6 Bedroom 2 clothing or just bedroom 2 box 6 https://www.europeanrelocationservices.co.uk/tips.html+996 It is an often quoted fact that moving home is among the most stress full things we do in our lives, so who must it be for your dog or cat or pets ? Well it can and is often stressful for them as to them it seems like something amiss is going on something they don't understand. (So be patient with them before during and after the move, and I mean more so them normal as it is normal and natural for them to be put out of sorts and act strange )(And yes many a pet may be scared that you are going some where without them )
But that does not mean there are not things you can do to make it less stressful for them.
It is often not until we come to pack up to move home that we realise how much stuff we really have.
But how much of that stuff do you want ? Or need ? at your new place Well packing is also a great chance to declutter
But somethings people pack for moving to Spain may surprise you We have over the years had people pack 1/4 full bottles of washing liquid or 1/4 boxes of wash powered , you can get these at your new place so bin them ? well no infact these may not be clutter at all but can come in handy for the first few days while your to busy to pop to the shops to buy more |
